The Global Emission Modeling System (GEMS) was developed by the team from Work Package 1, led by the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry and Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). This high-precision global emissions inventory includes data on greenhouse gases and air pollutants from 1700 to 2021. By incorporating geographic data, production processes, and factory-level emission control, GEMS improves accuracy over traditional emissions inventories.
